I'm Will, and there's nothing I love more than gathering people around a fire, hearing that sizzle, and watching great food come together over real charcoal.
That simple love for cooking over flame is how WillBBQ started. What began as one person's obsession with getting the perfect char on a skewer has grown into Australia's go-to destination for hibachi grills, charcoal BBQs, and everything you need to cook outdoors the way it's meant to be done.
Our Story
I didn't come from a culinary background. I came from backyards, camping trips, and weekend cookouts where the BBQ was always the centrepiece. I fell in love with Japanese-style charcoal grilling — the simplicity of a hibachi, the intense heat of quality charcoal, and the incredible flavour you simply can't get from gas.
The problem? Finding a decent hibachi grill in Australia was nearly impossible. Everything was either flimsy, overpriced, or had to be shipped from overseas with weeks of waiting. So I set out to fix that — sourcing premium-quality grills and making them accessible to everyday Australians at fair prices.
Along the way, I had the incredible opportunity to appear on Dipper's Backyard BBQ Wars on Channel 7's 7mate, hosted by AFL legend Robert "Dipper" DiPierdomenico. Competing on national television was a wild ride, but it confirmed what I already knew — Australians are passionate about their BBQs, and there's real demand for something beyond the standard gas barbecue.
BBQ for Homeless — Giving Back Through Food
One of the things I'm most proud of is BBQ for Homeless, a community initiative where we fire up the grills and cook meals for people doing it tough. BBQ has always been about bringing people together, and that shouldn't depend on your circumstances.
Food has this amazing power to make people feel seen and valued. Every BBQ for Homeless event reminds me why I started this business — it was never just about selling grills. It's about the connections that happen when you cook and share a meal together.
